My grandmother Elizabeth Jane Brown was aged 80 when she died and her address was given as 14 Wade Avenue. She died in December 1965, my Grandfather Percy Brown having passed away in 1961. I wonder if anyone remembers her? I had very little contact with my grandparents and now live in Australia and trying hard to construct the family history.
Being the sister of Lesley Booth, my grandparents also lived at 10 Wade Avenue, with their daughter, Sandra Brookes. Sandra had spina bifida and was in a wheelchair. I remember the flat above my grandparents being on fire one evening, round about 1964 or 1965 and the whole block being evacuated. My grandma”s friend was called Vi Hebron (nee Davis) and lived in St Mary”s Close opposite Wade Avenue.

My grandparents (Flo & Alf Brookes) lived in #10 Wade Ave. The grandkids used to be in and out of their home every week end.
