  1. Some stories about people I recall …
    Neville Flounders – great footballer
Alan Mansell – had two older sisters – Maureen and Jennifer – he once damaged Jennifer’s eye when he fired an arrow into it by accident
Gary Booth – small – cheeky – lost a finger when a big metal closed on it on a windy day
Sandra Perks – lived opposite me on Riverhead Avenue
    Craig Tucker – good footballer

    • Just noticed this comment and saw the name Sandra Perks who we lived a few doors down from in Riverhead Avenue (No. 16) until 1963 when we moved to Thornaby. My sister Susan and I (Christine) Owles both went to Roseworth Juniors. Have vague memories of going to Kiaora? Huts for some lessons. I have a picture somewhere of me, Sandra Perks and Yvonne and Ian Mcpartland who lived next door.

    • Susan, Malcolm Flounders was my dad, cross legged, second from right on bottom photo. He did not have a sister called Marylin. Sister called Janet and brother called Kenneth. Ned, Neville, Noel and Karen emigrated to Australia and were cousins of
      my Father.

Malcolm (my dad) has passed away but this happened on Dec 23rd 2008, 3 years after your post. Either something spooky going on or there was 2 Malcolm Flounders at the same school at the same time with related family.

Never heard of a Marylin. Interested to find out a bit more.

      Thanks

      Mike Flounders

  6. Sue Rickerby still lives locally and she is very well. I was talking to her sister Judith yesterday – Sue & I were bridesmaids for Judith in the early 70’s, they had a lovely reception at the Queens Hotel!

  7. Sorry Peter, I don’t know about Sue, I haven’t seen her since school (not that I’m aware of anyway!). I think I was in the same class as her and Mitch from infants through to leaving Blakeston.

  8. Craig, I would never have recognised you, Keith Mitchell or Paul Saunders. I recognised Sue Rickerby, is she still living local? I’ve not seen her since the 1970’s.

  10. Brilliant memory Colin, yes Miss Morgans class that’s right! I remember all the names you mention. I just don’t seem to have matched the faces as well as you have! Did you go to Blakeston Comp afterwards? If so have a look at (id=90451)you may be able to name a few on that picture.

  11. Sorry I don’t recall a Kathryn Stoddart or a David Allen but I think I’m in two of the above photo’s. I believe the middle one to be Miss Morgans class of 65-66. Back row L to R: 1,Gary ?. 2,David McLone. 3,Colin Spence? 6,Keith ?(School goalkeeper, went to Richard Hind with me). 3rd row:2,Judith Fletcher. 3,Karen Fellows. 9,ME I think. 1st row:1,Malcolm Flounders.
    Bottom photo is Miss Davis class of 66-67. Back row L to R: 2,John Lee. 3,David McLone. 5,Alan Mansel ? 6,Colin Powles. 7,Gary Appleton ? 8,Keith Murray. 9,Tony Riley. 3rd row:3,Jacqueline Walker. 5,Hazel Scott. 7,Denise Preece ? 12,ME again ? 1st row:4,Malcolm Flounders.
Top photo is probably years 67-68, and I would have been in Mrs MacGregors class, but I do recognize one or two. 2nd row L to R:2,Pamela Covell ? 11,Alyson Dinsdale.
Hope this helps and sorry for not remembering more.

  13. Thank you for replying David. I’m not that familiar with the Roseworth area as I lived not far from Stockton High Street. I used to go out Marilyn in 1967. All I know is she used to hang around with Barbara Oliver and her house was not far from the Bridge.

  14. Hello Robert. I seem to remember Malcom living on Runfold Close opposite the school and the entrance to Blakeston Lane. I can remember an older brother and possibly a younger sister? Would that tie in? There was another family of Flounders near by on Rolleston Avenue; Neil, Noel and Neville. They had 3 sisters but I don’t recall their names. We all were at Roseworth Junior then Roseworth Sec/Blakeston Comp.

  15. Hello Kathryn, I remember your name from all those years ago! I’m pretty sure that’s me 4th child from the left on the back row of the middle picture. I recognise some others as well. Gary Booth is to my right and the first two on the left of the back row are Craig Evans and Keith Mitchell. Malcom Flounders is first left seated, and Steven Leighton is third from the left seated I think. Mr Knowles the Headmaster is standing at the right. Do you have a list of names? I think I may be in the lower photo but not sure! Have a look at ‘A Class at Blakeston Comp’ that I put on the site (id=90451) you may be in it!

  16. It is nice to see some pictures of children who attended Roseworth School. I left in 1965 but remember those days vividly, cannot say it is with fondness –
times have really changed since then.
I lived at 11 Rievaulx Close and also went to school at Kiora Hall were Mr Brown was the Head Master. I remember those wooden huts and climbing the conker trees such fun.
The biggest think about Kiora Hall was the ghost, eveyone thought the place was haunted by the white lady who threw herself off the second floor balcony such fun times.
Don’t know if anyone remembers Mr Duckers, he did a display of trains at the hall one year, think it was around 1963.
