  1. Well, well……lots of names here are a blast from the past. I’m Jean Clemmet (nee Mowbray), and just happened to chance on this site after recently joining ‘we love Stockton us’. I was at Grangefield from 1959 to 1964. I remember Pat Armstrong emigrating, the world is such a small place these days…..

  2. Oh my goodness, they could have shown a more flattering photo! I remember so many of these people and would love to be in contact. Gloria, thank you for posting this. I am on facebook and have been trying to find people (but without married names I had no luck). I live in USA now but have just returned from a months visit to England yesterday! (5/22/13)

  3. I am trying to contact anyone who knew Patricia Armstrong. She attended Grangefield until the spring of 1963 before leaving to live in Australia. She was in form 4A and her form teacher was Mrs Oxley. She will be travelling to UK in late April 2013 and would like to catch up. Some of her friends at the time were Maureen Glencross, Miranda Peters, Gloria Phillips, Janet Roberts, Leslie Holmes, and Christine Jones. Hope you can help! My name is John (Brother).

      • Hi Cliff, nice of you to respond so quickly. Pat will be in the north east (Stockton) on or about 1st May 2013. She would like to catch up with as many of her old friends as possible. We used to live in Rottingdean Close in Roseworth. If you are interested I believe you can get my e-mail address from Picture Stockton. Sorry if I missed anybody off the list, but after nearly 50 years my sisters memory probably needs a jolt!

      • Hi, Christine, I’m Irene Metcalfe, now Rylander and been reading about some recent and not so recent memories of Grangefield. A friend and I have just been back to visit the school today (15th July 2015) prior to it being demolished. It was sad to see it in a bad state of repair. Have been in contact with Irene Watson and Pat Armstrong. The world is not as big as it seems. Cheers x

      • Hi Christine. I remember you from my class. I have only learnt of this site this year so am way behind on the news. It’s lovely so many people are trying to keep in touch. I write often to June Marwood.

  4. I rememeber Mr Downes, he was a marvellous music teacher and when he was at Grangefield I joined the choir and loved it. What a talented and gifted man he was. I already played piano but he taught us the joy of singing together, which was wonderful. I have been in other choirs since then, always loved it, but my voice is now too croaky now.

  5. The master sitting next to Mrs Coates is Mr D.W.Downes. He was the music master who was shared between the boys school and the girls school. He arrived about 1957 and stayed for three years before moving to Monkwearmouth Grammar School.
