I think the player left front was Peter Cutter. Norman Jones, Cutter and I all served apprenticeships at Arnold & Griffin Plumbers. The photo would be about 1947/8 Another notable player in that excellent team was Freddie King but I cant see him on the photo

Freddie King played in the early sixties for Primrose Hill, he played in the good Portrack Shamrocks team in season 1955/56 along with Brian Cook, Henry Harris & Jackie Cutler who all played for Primrose Hill as well. Norman Jones was still playing for Primrose Hill in the sixties, he was a good full back & a GENTLEMAN.

St Paul’s Terrace was still there back in 1980, my wifes granma and granddad lived there. Wrensfield
est. was built well before that. I must admit the background on the photo does look like St Paul’s Terrace.

This photo appeared in the Evening Gazette when Primrose Hill team had a re-union in the Mile House pub and it said the photo was taken at Browns Bridge. Terry I also had an auntie who lived in St Paul’s Terrace and I agree with you.

Bob Nicholson and George Naisbit in this photo both worked at Head Wrightsons Bridgeyard,Thornaby, George Sudron worked at Ashmores and Harkers, Jackie Ball worked at Sparks Bakery.

Jackie Ball finished up owning his own pub the ‘Cat and Bagpipes in a village off the A19 near to and on the opposide of the road to Hutton Rugby.

He certainly did Bob, it was the “Cat and Bagpipes” in East Harsley village, he also played for the village cricket team to a ripe old age.

This photo was taken at Browns Bridge where Primrose Hill football team originally had their headquarters, after this they had a hall on Gilpin Browns field opposite the Durham Road hospital where St Johns Church is now. They were a top local team from about 1947 to 1967.

Marvellous how some of the areas top teams last for about twenty years then go extinct. There is a junior team playing under the same name but they have no connection with the original club.

The terrace houses in the background are the terrace that was behind Lustrum Hall that looked across Browns Bridge, they knocked down when Wrensfield was built.

Anon, St Paul’s Terrace is still with us. I remember Wrensfield being built, but cannot remember any housing being demolished, mind you, I was only about 9 or 10 at the time so I could be wnong. I can’t recall any terrace housing in the area with attic windows in the roof in the Newtown/Durham Road area,

Bill, This photo was taken at Browns Bridge, I just assumed St Pauls Terrace had gone when Wrensfield was built.

This photo was loaned to me by Lee Nicholson, it was taken at Browns Bridge about 1948, back-row Robson Nicholson(he was the Boilermakers District Delegate and later was a member of the Union National Executive Council)left, Joe Ball, right : middle-row L to R Jackie Potter, ??, Joe Lowe, Norman Jones, George Sudron, Dickie Wright, Alan Keeley, Bob(Sonny)Nicholson, Bill Seddon : front-row L to R ??, Billy Bright, Mr Naisbit, Jackie Ball, George Naisbit. Robson Nicholson & Bob (Sonny) Nicholson in this photo are the great grandfather & grandfather of Stockton Town captain Adam Nicholson, Sonny played for Lincoln City, Whitby Town & Head Wrightsons.
