My aunt and uncle lived at Black Bull cottage in Aislaby – Billy and Evalin Snaith. I think there was a VR postbox there. I remember he found a small canon ball in his garden. I think many years ago Aislaby was a pub in the days of corn barges, I loved school holidays there no cans of coke but lovely country life I wish I was there now. Paul
Thank you Philip for this lovely photo. A late colleague of mine was an pillar box enthusiast and would talk incessantly about them. I must admit his enthusiasm became infectious. However, the mention of Low Worsall brings back childhood memories. When I lived in Stockton I would cycle to Low Worsall and think I was being very adventurous. I have now lived in the London area for 55 years but still frequently think of the area where I grew up, it has much to offer, be proud of it.
When Worsall was on Time Team they insisted on pronouncing it Worzel. I’ve rarely screamed so much at the television set!

There was one in Junction Road, Norton, at the bus stop on the corner of Ashville Avenue.
