Are you the John Robson from Greta Road in Norton?… Mick of course I knew from my days at Power Gas, I also worked through his Agency in Holland back in 1977… As for Gordon we were buddies for many years, I was shocked to hear of his tragic death a few years ago. I have been unable to trace his widow Isobel, also a Richard Hind pupil, who I have known since my teenage years.
No Keith I was not from Greta Road, I was from the Garbutt Street area of Stockton. Losing both Gordon and Mick at such an early age was indeed tragic.
Others in the photo include:
Calvert, John Preston, Les Hogg, Gordon White and Alan Povey.
For further reading I will shortly have an article in Remember When in which I trace the origins of this ceremony back to the Great War. It also contains photographs of the girls from 1961. Colin Hatton
