I had to undertake a Google search to find out where St Peters Church, Stockton, was, If I am correct this is: St Peters Church, Yarm Road, Stockton-on-Tees, TS18 3PJT: Tel: 01642 611603 • E: info@stpetersstockton.org. It appears every town and city in the Western World contains a St Peters church, chapel or school. the most famous of which are St Petersburg, Russia, and St Peters Basilica, the Vatican, Rome, Petersburg was renamed Leningrad in honour of Lenin, then reverted to it’s the former name when the sins and crimes of both Lenin, Stalin and Beria, became public knowledge. Saint Peter the Saint, is also known as Simon Peter, Simeon, Simon, Sham’un al-Safa, Cephas, or Peter the Apostle, he was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ and the first leader of the early Church. According to Christian tradition, Peter was crucified in Rome under Emperor Nero.

    The village of Thornaby once centered around the small St Peters church, located on Thornaby Green. The Anglican church is of 12th-century origin. Grace Pace, the mother of Captain James Cook, was baptised at St. Peter’s, Thornaby, in 1702. Robert de Thormodbi, wounded in the Crusades at Acre, swore to raise a shrine to the Virgin Mary if he survived his wounds. An interesting feature of this church is a plaque dedicated to the RAF 608 Squadron, formed at Thornaby on 17 March 1930 which went on to serve within both Coastal and Bomber Commands during the Second World War. 608 (Thornaby, North Riding) Standard, which was approved by the Queen and bears their battle honours, can be seen housed in York Minster under the Astronomical Clock where it was laid-up on 14 November 1959.
