  1. I can remember a few names of bikers from the early 70s including ” Jungle” who lived in Norton. Chris from Fairfield who ended up owning NorthSport Motorcycles a Kawasaki dealer near Stockton station, and “Donner” a biker I met on Norton Green

    • To Steve,
The Chris you remembered from Fairfield ( originally Norton ) is Chris Hopes who was a brilliant Motorbike Racer till he fractured his skull at Mallory Park hairpin.

      • To Dave Murray, Yes Chris Hope, he was a friend of my late cousins Tony and Austin Hand. I bought quite a few bikes of Chris over the years. I believe another notable biker called Mike Redfearn was friends with them.

        • Steve,
Yes Mike Redfern, who also became an established good motorbike racer is a good friend of Chris’s. He now lives in Spain. I said Chris was a brilliant racer till his accident, but was also a very close friend and competitor of Mike’s elder brother Ken Redfern. Ken died sadly in a motorbike accident at the Kirklevington S Bends ( near Yarm ) on 30th June 1973. Ken at that time was one of if not, the best road racer in this country and at that time and was planning to be a full GP racer, having tasting some success at that level. RIP.
          Dave.
