The Vanja with a gross tonnage of 15968 was built at Haverton Hill shipyard by Hawthorn Leslie & Co. and owned by Halfdan Ditlev – Simonsen & Co. The keel was laid on 28th November 1949 and the ship was launched on 5th April 1951. The ship can be seen leaving the harbour and at sea.
The Vanja was built at Haverton Hill Shipyard by the Furness Shipbuilding Company and Hawthorn Leslie were the builders of the engines – these were of the Doxford diesels type.
