The shop itself was between Coates & Sedgewicks and the Midland Bank, we did sell uniforms for Richard Hind, the Grange. and Oxbridge Lane schools. I may have even served you with yours, Irene, if you bought it in the 50s (the good looking lad with jet black hair!)
It was such a surprise to see this photograph of Gargetts it must show Mr Gargett snr and Harold his son with Bill Brumpton the future manager whom i worked with in the 1950s until it was bought out by Littlewoods.
Oh yes Malcolm – I remember you well! It was 1951 when my mother took me to get my uniform. She probably had to sell the family silver!

Was Gargetts shop in a little sort of arcade under Coates and Sedgwicks? I think we got our school uniforms from there(Richard Hind)
