This photograph shows the launch of The Fauvette on 7th November, 1934. The ship was built at Haverton Hill shipyard and owned by the General Steam Navigation Company Ltd.
The General Steam Navigation Company named many of their ships after birds. Amongst their freighters were ships named Greenfinch, Lapwing and Swift, and they also used some French names Alouette (Lark) and Fauvette (Warbler).
