Building the Infinity Bridge

1 – An initial pier is built as a platform from which the bridge central support can be constructed. 2 – The central support in position and the first piece of the smaller arch is installed. 3 – This view will never look the same. 4 – More segments of the two arched spans are added. 5 – The morning of the ‘big lift’ – the main span across the river will be hoisted into place in one piece. 6 -One of the biggest mobile cranes in the country is used to lift the main span from the north bank. 7 – In awful weather conditions, the arched beam of the main span is lifted into place. 8 – The two ends of the arch come together. 9 – Finally in place. 10 – The deck of the bridge is installed using a floating rig. 10a – The floating rig used to lift each section of precast deck into place. 11 – Removing some of the temporary restraints. 12 – Starting to take shape.
