The Tees at Stockton c1904

River Tees looking downstream showing ships under construction at Thornaby, a steamship moored at the quayside and we believe it also shows a barge used for bringing building sand to Stockton. c1904.

  1. This looks like it was taken from Smith’s Wood yard (which was around in the 60s to mid 80s?), next to Victoria Bridge looking towards Boro. By the early 80s the river bank had degraded into sludge and boats / ships could no longer dock there. I know, because I lived at Smith’s Woodyard as a kid and used to talk right up to where this photo was taken (but much later).
