My great grandfather George King was an ironworker and also played in the same football team as George Hassett. He died in 1935 and I believe he was buried in the same cemetary as George Hassett.
Does anyone have information on ironworks that were in the Portrack area in the late 1800 – early 1950″s. Researching family by the name of Hassett that were all employed in the ironworks industry in the Stockton Area. healeyau@bigpond.net.au
The company was known as the Stockton Stone and Concrete Company, originally utilising slag from the ironworks. later making concrete products, latterly as Marshalls. The site is now a housing estate.
