I worked at the Queens from 1975 to 1978 as a hall porter anybody else work there in that period
The Queens Hotel was a lovely building and a lot of the star artists who appeared on the Globe in the fifties and sixties stayed there. I remember the Platters staying there. This is another case of changing the names of streets & terraces etc.
How come the Queen’s Hotel was torn down? It happened a year before I was born. Did they not want to rebuild it? Did they have insurance? It looked like a lovely building from the other pictures I’ve seen. Plus there aren’t that many big hotels in the town. Surely business must have been brisk.
Does anyone know if there was a Queen”s Head public house in Portrack allegedly used for the Stockton Masonic?
