  1. does anyone know of a mount pleasant cottage in norton?  my aunt was in domestic service there in the 1920s

  2. Early 1900 photos show a 4 wand (sails)mill – Was under contract to ‘puddle’ clay for ‘Clarence Potteries’ Prospect Place, Norton. In the cottage row was the home of Jacob Morrison who in 1879 invented an Oil-Engine which he fitted to drive a wagon it was seen regularly around Stockton It now in The Henry Ford Museum of Transport, Detroit. Jacob also designed and operated a propeller driven punt His Oil Engine also compressed gas to give artifical lighting for his workshop — Jacob Morrison a man before his time!!

    • Where did you get this information on Jacob? I am trying to write an article about him and I am finding it very difficult to find any trace of him or his doings.
