Just as a footnote, and for those who know Middlesbrough, (or more properly Linthorpe), the address on the card, ‘Acklam Rd, Old Linthorpe’ actually refers to what is now known as Burlam Rd, along which on either side, the orig. village and cottages of Linthorpe once straggled. These days ‘Linthorpe Village’ has somehow become associated with the large group of shops and service outlets at the south-end of Linthorpe Rd, about a quarter of a mile from the ‘actual’ site. Just after this card was issued in the ’30’s M’bro Council extended the road towards Acklam, with a new section going directly thru’ to the Newport Bridge, the older ‘by passed’ section then became Burlam Rd.
