It reminds me a bit of Marton Road, Middlesbrough, about half way between Clairville Roundabout and Belle Vue. (This information was kindly provided by Peter Moon)

The cobbled road on the left is Lawrence Street. The building on the right was in front of West End House (which later became the Musical and Dramatic Club on Buchanan Street), and would now be where the Kwik Fit forecourt is. https://goo.gl/maps/9N83rKHpBZ52
This is indeed Yarm Lane looking towards Densham”s Corner. The petrol pumps on the left belong to Dinsdale”s Garage who had a motorbike and cycle shop at this end of the block. The Pratt”s petrol pump shown was the first petrol pump in Stockton-on-Tees. At the other end of the block on the left was Dinsdale”s car sales. In between were private houses with garden which were eventually bought by Fred Dinsdale, redeveloped and incorporated into one site. This photo was probably taken in the mid 1920s. The site on the left was bounded by Lawrence Street and Shaftesbury Street.
This looks to me like Acklam side of the crem, i think that there is a set of traffic lights at the junction now. Much earlier than 1988
Jessica you are right it looks a lot older than 1988 but as there are what looks like petrol pumps on the left, maybe not 100 years out. There is no way it is Yarm Lane. Denshams corner is only about a hundred or so yards from Woodlands and would be in view, and the buildings as they are now were certainly there in the fifties, probably older than that.
This picture is actually a view of Yarm Lane looking toward Denshams Corner. The buildings on the right are the perimeters of what are now the Lords Tavern and Woodlands Medical Prctice.
Hmm is this a strange coincidence!? I live on Allendale Road (in Grangefield) and wanted to see if there were any old photographs of the road as the houses are Edwardian. I searched the database for “Allendale” and this came up with the comment from Lewis Beckwith, which is my younger brothers name. I have showed him this page and he has confirmed he has never been on this site before, strange ey! This photograph is definitely not Allendale Road in Grangefield and the photograph doesn”t look like it”s from 1988, maybe 1888!
