Is this photo the right way round? Surely the land should be sloping down towards the right.
Paradise Row – When I was an apprentice welder there was a tradesman, a welder Jackie Paterson, I think the surname is right, he was getting on a bit then, well I was only 15 and out of short pants, well lets just say that he was older, he must have been because he was in the same class as my dad at Newham Grange School. My dad at the time lived at home in Hazel Drive and Jackie lived at the top of the drive the road that crossed at the top, not married, no kids and lived with his mam, couldn’t join the war as he was asthmatic. Had a brother who lived on Roseworth, married couple of kids and worked for the council on maintenance. I remember him telling me that he before demolition lived in Paradise Row, which meant nothing to me then but lots now. Does anybody remember him or even my family from that era? Roy.
