I worked here for several years as assistant Curator (Activities Officer). Upstairs, beyond the display gallery, were several rooms housing pottery kilns where adults & young people were taught pottery making and I was able to research some of the techniques used in the old potteries of Stockton, Yarm, Middlesbrough & Linthorpe. There was also a lapidary workshop where members of the public could cut & polish stones… I had the privilege of running many of the courses at Billingham Art Gallery as well as staging the Linthorpe Pottery Retrospective Exhibition when hundreds of examples of Linthorpe Pottery from across the country were displayed here.
