Census 1881, Bowesfield Farm, Stockton upon Tees, Durham. William Hall was an indoor servant at Jonathan and Anna Eliza Hickes farm and single in 1881. I believe he was born in Wilberfoss, York and his father wes James Hall born either Gate Helmsley or Dunnington abt 1830. Please be so kind as to advise if you can corroborate this info
I”m interested to see these photographs. My father and his siblings were born at Bowesfield Farm: my grandfather moved from Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, in 1905 and left in 1929 to go to Dunbar, East Lothian. He married Hilda Cowley, daughter of Edwin Cowley, who had a Jeweller”s shop at the corner of the High Street and Dovecot Street. Edwin was married twice; his first wife was Elizabeth Booth, by whom he had Charlie and Emily. After her death at an early age, he married Mary Jane Hall from Richmond, Yorkshire and my grandmother was their only child.
