Norman you gave me somewhat of a headache ref the drill now to suite the new SA80, well it has changed and I have now in my possession the drill being implicated for real about five metres north away from the soldier in the photo above . I don”t know how they carry out this salute these days, it was fine with the Lee Enfield 303, standard issue at the time of the photograph, and even the L1A1 SLR which came later, but I suspect they have had to change the drill now to suit the much shorter SA80.
Order on your Arms Reverse – Not very often done or seen nowadays, your rifle is turned upside down muzzle resting on your boot with your head bowed; you don’t need a degree to know when it is to be used.
