St Lukes church choir

Photograph of a church choir and choir master, taken by Thirwell & Co, photo artists, Stockton, Guisborough and Spennymoor. Does anyone know which church the choir belonged to?
It may have been St Lukes church Acklam road, thornaby (This information was kindly provided by L Helper)
Definitely not St. Peters, Yarm Road. (This information was kindly provided by Rachel Mason)

  1. Sorry to put a spanner in the works but the church in the background is definitely not St Lukes in Thornaby as it is a stone built church and the building in the picture is built of brick. Although it may still be from there as there used to be a seperate church hall next door which I believe was knocked down when they changed the road layout on Acklam Road.

  2. Janice, the building and the background certainly leads me to beleive it is St.John”s,but I”m afraid I can”t recognise anyone in the photo. It is certainly before my father”s time when he was organist & choirmaster.

  3. I still maintain that this is wrongly labelled and that it is St. John the Baptist”s church on Alma Street Stockton. A recent contributor, Anthony Maughan, would know, I”ll bet
