Reflections on the River There were 7 water-mills serviced by “The Beck” Bishopton,Thorpe, Blakiston, Wynyard (Blue-Stone) Wolviston , Norton and the one shown Billingham. A careful walk on these old sites can show the mill-pond depressions and water-courses of almost all, plus occasional broken brick and tile of these early Georgian mills. Late 1800 O.S maps point up thse mills.
