My guess is that it is during WWII because the guys in ‘square rig’ (sailor suits) are all wearing their cap tallies on their caps at a jaunty angle with the bow to the front. This practice was quite popular in that era. Also the Petty Officer on the right of the photo is wearing a black cap which was only worn at sea during war time.

Can anyone please date this photo? My father did national service in the navy circa 1944 and his father (my grandfather) worked for ICI.
