  1. The John Gordon(Jack)Iceton of Watling Road, Bishop Auckland was the one that was the Foster Wheelers Works Manager at Hartlepool & he was a friend of Gordon Nicholson who was the Northern Football League secretary.

  2. Jan Dumble, A belated thanks for the confirmation of my best buddy Jack’s demise in 1997. The photographs you referred to of the football teams are new to me and I would like to borrow them in order get copies made. I can guarantee safe keeping and return to your family. I have nothing but happy memories of my friendship with Jack and his family. My email address can be given to you by the Picture Stockton site.

  3. I am trying to contact John Gordon Iceton of 79 Watling Road Bishop Auckland, or his children. I believe we are related and I am chasing up a family tree.

  4. Hi Jan and Ken Sawyer,I too have managed to get hold of a few old photos of West End dating back to 1944-45 which i will endeavour to get down to Stocton library to be put on the site.

  5. re Jan Moore nee Dumble”s entry of 28/08/07. “I have found a few old football photos with my dad and uncle on them including one of Hartburn FC dated 1943/4 The names on the back are R. Hazelton A Smith K Sawyer B Dumble J Connors B Booth H Griffiths J Gill S John T Dumble W Tennet another pic has the players in a white jersey and dark shorts while another has darkis jerseys with white collars and 1944/5 on the ball there are also a couple of trophies. I have sent in my copy of a Hartburn Minors team of 42-43 (or so I had written on the back)so it should appear shortly. The names I have down there are:Back row. Barry Dumble (Richard Hind School), Alan Smith (Stockton Sec’), Rex Hazelton (Richard Hind) Jack Connors (Middlesbrough St Mary’s Grammar), Brian Booth (Stockton Grammar), Ken Sawyer (Stockton Grammar). Front Row. Ken Griffiths (Stockton Grammar), Tom Dumble (Stockton Sec), Johnny Gill (Oxbridge Lane), Wilf Tennet (Stockton Sec), Sammy John (Richard Hind).

  6. hi, my name is robert iceton from leeds, west yorks. my grandad was called albert iceton and he was a blacksmith, could we be related?

  7. There was for many years a general dealer”s shop in Sedgefield by the name of Ray Iceton. I used to sometimes call in for sweets on my bike trips in the area in the 1950s and 1960s. As you entered the village from Stockton the shop was on the left on the main road.

  8. Hi Jan Moore, my dad (John Gordon Iceton, aka Jack) says the whole Iceton family in the Tesside/Durham area would all be related and all orginally come from Sedgefield. They were blacksmiths traditionally and the oldest son was always called John. His grandfather (Jim) moved to West Auckland in the 1890″s to become the local blacksmith. He has a family tree dating back to 1640.

  9. Hi Jan Moore.Alan Iceton worked in the Bridgeyard at Head Wrightsons Thornaby,as a plater along with Freddy Iceton from Thornaby (I don”t know if they were related),they were both good footballers, Freddy played for Stockton Boys & Middlesbrough Juniors.

  11. My dad is the Jack Iceton that worked at Foster Wheelers in Hartlepool. He came from St Helens and lives in Bishop Auckland with my mum, Vera Iceton who came from Ferryhill. There aren”t many Iceton”s around so I would imagine its him who David (Mills) knows….

  12. David Mills was the Jack Iceton you knew at Foster Wheelers in Hartlepool the Works Manager?,If so he came from Bishop Auckland.I believe the guy Jan is enquiring about is the brother of the footballer Alan Iceton who played for Middlesbrough Juniors & Spennymoor United,I believe he married the former Middlesbrough coach Jimmy Gordon”s daughter.

  15. Jan. I lived in Camden Street two streets away from Gladstone street. I knew your mother and father and his brother as well as all your uncles. The player at the back is not your uncle Tom i think that he was too old for this Junior Team.

  16. Jan, Jack was a good friend of mine during the fifties and sixties. In fact he was my best man at my first wedding. A little bird told me that he has passed on. Is this so?

  17. 19. Hi Jan. As the date shows this photo was taken sixty one years ago when I was fourteen years old. A long time ago for me to remember the full team. Back row, Ken Rhodes, Dave Small, Blackie Wilson, Ged Comisky. Middle row. Forgot, Ronnie Walker, Lennie Sewell. Front row. Barry —— forgot, Alan Pitchers,—— Davies, Jud Iceton. Im sorry to those whose names I have forgotten but im sure some body will fill in the blanks for you Jan. Is there some connection with one of the lads on the photo Jan. I would be very interested if there is
