  1. Ray Parker. Head Wrightsons was on the opposite side of the River to Stockton and they bought out the land of Richardson Ducks and Craig Taylors. The location of Ropners was on the Stockton side between Finkle Street and this photo. It was right on the bend of the River and they launched down River towards M”bro. Craig Taylors would be opposite Finkle Street and they launched across the River. Richardson Ducks would be slightly down River on the Thornaby side and they launched down River.

  2. Bob Irwin. So where was Ropners boat yard & Headwrightson”s? The exact place we viewed the launching of barges was at the bottom of Finkle St. across a set of railway lines at a concrete mooring point where some steps went down to the river. Immediately to the left of this was steel railing enclosing the quay and unloading cranes, I can only ever remember seeing Norwegian ships here.

  3. Ray Parker. Quite right about your references except it was Craig Taylors and Richardson Ducks Shipyards across the River. Where you see the building in the background which became Remploy was where Kelley”s Ferry ran from.

  4. This location is directly behind the Seamens” Mission (some one wanted info. on location of Mission in another photo.)The building in rear of photo. was or became the Remploy factory. The photographer had his back to area of The Plaza cinema/Three Tuns pub/Silver St.To the right, across the river was Ropners boat yard/Headwrightson”s,as children we would go to this spot and watch barges being launched into the River Tees.
