  1. My late Dad George Morris of 43 St Vincent st Haverton Hill worked at Casebournes (works) in the 60’s.
    Anyone remember him?

  2. I am searching for my family history, I live in York, England and wondering if anyone should know of any links they may have to any of us Tatterton”s in York!

  3. Casebourne “Gardens” In the 1890s a Mr Thomas Tatterton and Mr R Stafford, were Market gardeners in Portrack Lane ( South Road) Re I.C.I gardeners Both Norton Hall 1937 and Wilton 1948 had a team of gardeners, with a large “L” shape potting-out and fruit green-house in Norton-Hall grounds, these houses grew both flowers and fruit , (grapes, lemons) as late as 1987). a unique thing is all the trees in Norton Hall grounds had and have (2003) a numbered aluminium tag secured on the trunk, for servicing purposes In 1960 I.C.I employed “Gardeners Lads” on the same terms as engineering apprentices .

  4. My relatives told me George won the company gardening competition around this time, as most things tended to rot at Haverton, but his work at Casebourn was always immaculate. He had the advantage of greenhouses which afforded initial protection. As children we visited his family every Xmas Day.

  5. The gardens at ICI Cement Works were developed and maintained by one in-house gardener at the plant. He was George Tatterton who came from Norton.
