PictureStockton, just to say that a friend from Stockton introduced me to this website a couple of months ago. I moved from Stockton to Chester some 24 years ago with work (then ICI). I still often visit Stockton to see family and friends and whenever possible Redcar Bears speedway. I am absolutely fascinated by other peoples comments and experiences of old Stockton, and quite a few names I do know from all my childhood even if I didn’t know them personally. But to hear of the schools, teachers streets etc etc ~ BRILL!!! keep it up. Wishing all @ PictureStockton and subscribers to the website a Merry Xmas, and a Happy New Year.
I was a paperboy from this shop for about 4 years, it was owned by a guy clled Mr Dixon, hence the name ‘Dixons’. Though later on when I was 17years old, on 05/10/68 at this exact junction, I was knocked off my motorbike and suffered a compound fracture of my left leg to my tib and fib.

This was Fords paper shop in the fifties on the corner of Inkerman Street.
