  1. The room shown at 1st floor level was originally a large meeting-room accessed from both the ground floor premises via a staircase, and also via a doorway from the 1st flr areas of Regent House seen next door.
I’m informed that the room was at one-time used by the local Society of Friends. Decorative ‘gothic’ timberwork detailing to the rear windows and door can be found through the r/hand arch leading to the cottages, The ‘meeting room’ itself, has a very high ceiling (see guttering level) complete with an impressively large ornate-plasterwork cornice. Currently occupied (2014) by Stephen Russel hairdressers at 1st flr lvl, with Marina ladies-wear on the grd.flr.

  2. This building belonged to Thomas Hedley, a local auctioneer at the cattle market. The shop front was his office and the rear and above rented flats. He also owned the building to the right – Regent House.
