George Sudron played for Primrose Hill as a junior & senior,he might have been playing for somebody in the Ellis Cup,also George”s brother Stan played in goal for South Bank.
My memory must be playing tricks Bob as it looks nothing like what I remember of the South Bank ground. South bank Juniors had a great team in 1952 when we won the North Riding Junior Cup and The League, scoring over 350 goals in the season. Two players scored an individual century of goals; But the Senior team never had much success while I was playing for them. I visited the ground about ten years ago and was dismayed to see it was derelict, what a pity all that history going back to the 1800″s, lost and irreplaceable. Felix Hughes was the top man in those days.
This is definitely South Banks ground Graham,I played for the “Bankers” for 4 years in the mid to late 60s and know the ground like the back of my hand, yes that is St Peters on the left hand side of the ground comming in from Normandy Road
Graham I played for South Bank Juniors and Seniors between 1953 to 1956, and for the life of me I can not recognise the ground. Who were the teams playing and what was the competition if you Know.
Benny I think you are right naming the Goalkeeper as George Sudron. The smallest but the best Keeper around at that time. He later played for Primrose Hill when they were always top of the Stockton and District A Division. I see him around today and like you football injuries leave there casualties. He is walking with the aid of sticks. I think the knees are the casualty.
This match looks like a local team Ashmore”s, the big player in the stripes looks like Roly Arkle and the goalkeeper looks like George Sudron, I can not recognise the ground but I think Frank Seddon is in one of the photo”s and Frank was ex Hull City as I remember it, not Stoke City. Can anyone cast further information on these photo”s.

You are correct about it being the south bank ground but the church is St Johns on Normanby Road. Nice to see a mention of my Grandad Felix Hughes

This is a game played at South Bank FC. They played in red & white stripes. St Peters church is in the corner.
