Ye Olde Cherry Faire Races 1904. The crowds could enjoy such events as the Donkey Derby, pillow fighting and eating contests! This was one of the oldest of Stockton’s fairs and of course the sale of cherries, ripe in July, had a main feature.

I remember being told that my Uncle Jimmy, born about 1908, won first prize at a “climb the greasy pole” contest, I believe at the Cherry Fair. He won a side of beef.
