Stan was a friend of my dad in the 70’s, we used to live in Park Road and our house was directly at the end of the alley way alongside Stan’s joinery shop. As Mr Shearer commented, the back street between Westbourne St and Park Road was massive!, you could fit two maybe three cars across from wall to wall. Back in the day we would play cricket and football in that alley and quite frequently would smash the back window of the old lady whose house was next to the joinery shop. The family that lived at 7 Westbourne were the McLarens from Glasgow, does anyone know of their whereabouts?
The McLarens moved out of Westbourne Street in 1986 and now there is only the four boys left Duncan, the dad, died in November 1993 and Betty, the mum, died June 2013 – the rest of the family live in and around Stockton
Yes it is the joiners place on Westbourne Street incidentaly (useless information time) it leads to the widest back street behind Westbourne Street than anywhere else in Stockton on Tees
