  1. I have this same pic. taken 1973. One of the houses had a chimney fire, really roaring!! I called at the house and a man came out. He was not impressed , and said it happened all the time!!! So much for being helpful!!!!!!! this same pic is now in our home in Canada. Love Yarm. Have many nice memories of childhood, gathering bluebells in the woods there.

  2. Note the viaduct arch with brickwork reinforcing ribs added in recent times. This is one of only two arches in the viaduct which have been treated in this way. Before the ribs were added, the row of cottages ran right through the arch.

  3. my great great grandparents richard and ann smithson lived in bridge street . they moved here from alne in yorkshire in 1880 . he worked on the railways , when my great great grandfather died my gr gr grandmother moved further up the street but when she died around 1914 she was living in lower church wynde.
