  1. I knew and worked with a Bill Ritchie who was an Engine driver. He lived in one of those cottages. A tall guy about 6ft 2ins always wore a flat cap.

The engine is a class Q6 0-8-0 No.63389 hauling coal fines for one of the power stations elsewhere in the country.The engine was based at Blaydon at the time (c.1958) abd continued to operate until 16th March 1964. The large building beyond the houses was the station masters house erected in 1893.

  3. I used to live at no 8 in the houses on the right of the station in the late 50s and early 60s. Does anyone else remember living there?

  4. This is a lovely picture of the old station and I”ve always wanted to know why they took it down and hardly use it anymore.
