  1. The photo is looking down Albert Road, taken from close to where The Mall Shopping Centre is now stood. The decorations shown on the Town Hall were indeed put up for the 1937 Coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth. They were immensely popular and accompanied a general decoration scheme throughout the main thoroughfares of the town, which included illuminations.

  2. “Long may they reign” says the sign on the side of the Town Hall. This suggests it may have been 1935 when there was a national celebration of the silver jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary. Can anybody confirm this date from the fashions or vehicles that are in the photo?

  3. This seems to be a photo taken looking down Albert rd with the Town hall on the right and Amos Hintons on the corner under the sun shades

  4. The Middlesbrough Town Hall is not in Linthorpe Road. In this picture you are looking north towards Albert Road and the Albert Bridge on the intersection with Corporation Road. Linthorpe Road is west (or turn left) one block.

  5. This appears to be a picture of Linthorpe Road Middlesbrough showing part of the Town Hall with Hintons Shop on the opposite corner looking towards Albert Bridge
