We excitedly practiced waving our flags outside Norton Board School a couple of times then, on the day, we waited for what seemed to little eight year-olds like hours. Eventually the Royal car whizzed by with both HM and HRH waving to the crowd on the other side of the road. I caught a quick flash of the back of her head with a little blue hat and she was gone in an instant. It was so disappointing that some of the younger children burst into tears…
