I have found out that my Great-great-grandfather was a Farmer in Norton around the 1845-1875 do you know if any one knew of the family or where they lived I should like to know more about this side of my family he was a Robert Linton wife Margaret in 1851 they had Henry 6 William 5, George 2 John 1. George was my Greatgrandfather. thank you for your time. Faith Davison.
I can only hope that the swing gates are away for repair or are about to be replaced a lychgate without them just doesn”t look right. I was at a wedding here in the early sixties & at that time the custom of tying the gates, as on that occasion, was still, sometimes, being practiced. A wonderful throwback to earlier times.
