  1. It is with great sadness that we have lost one of our oldest members of 1st Norton Scout Group. After getting to know Norman many years ago, i used to go and visit Norman and Ann at their home in Norton, To hear many fascinating Stories of 1st Norton and how Norman and Gof Simpson started to build the old Mill as we knew it then. After Ann died, i kept on visiting Norman on Wednesday Nights even when Norman moved into Millbeck House, where we started to do a lot of planning and looking at old photographs which can now be found on this site. Some of the things that Norman did were fascinating. Norman gave me the top half of the totem pole that he carved, which was a wolf, The middle section is now in Norton”s Scout HQ, does anyone out there know where the bottom half of the totem pole went to. The celebrations will still carry on as Norman would of wanted that. The last thing that Norman said to me as i left him which was very strange to me, after all the time we had been talking, he had never metioned it before, He told me that he would like on his headstone, the baden powell tracking sign “Gone Home”, And would of liked one to be put on Ann”s headstone as well. “Good Night Norman” Geoff Ness.
