  1. I was the last goal keeper to play for Bailey Street school before the school closed in 1963.

  2. The late Derek Green in this photo was a Gashouse lad who lived in Garabaldi Street, he used to run the Stockton G.P.O. football team in the Middlesbrough Sunday League when the league started up. Colin Bell a Portrack lad was a good swimmer.

  3. Which Wakenshaw was the moulder/ coremaker up at Stockton Steel Foundry while I was there – and I think Umpelby has a foundry ring to it.

    • Ken – both myself and my brother Peter were moulder coremakers at Stockton steel.
      Peter is about 10 years older than me and after his time in national service came back and had a short spell at Thornaby because at the time Stockton was closed down and the company had promised to keep a job for him on his return our dad Peter also worked for Heads he was a slinger on the furnaces he also went to Thornaby for a while.

  4. My mam went to Bailey Street school in the 1913ish. If anyone has any pics of the streets around there in that period it would make my day. They lived in Herbert Street.
