When this photo was taken back in 1979, John Leaman was the manager. He came there from the Wynyard pub, also a Bass house on Whitehouse Road. He was a very good manager that took no grief, any bother in his pubs and you were out and never got back in. I”m sure he had photo memory because he never forgot a face.
The van is alongside the old Coop Stores. The house between the Coop Stores and the Wellington Inn was the old Post Office and Newsagent before it moved into the High Street. Oh Happy Days.

A very cosy pub with good Bass beer. The manager was Sam Pinkney when I used to visit The Wellington in the 1960″s. I don”t know when he left.
