The background wall is of the rooms used by Standard IVb and Standard V. There are many names and faces on this photo that I remember well. Having left Stockton in August 1957 I do not know where many got to. I met some at a major West End reunion several years ago. Somewhere in my files I have the reunion dinner booklet! Thanks to Mavis Holligon and Ken Rhodes. Alf was a quality, unruffled player. Our respective fathers knew each other well from work and bowls. I believe that Alf also became a very good bowls player.
I believe that Peter Higgins at the end of the 2nd row is the F Peter Higgins who became an international 440yds/400 metres runner in the 1950″s and was a member of our 4 x 400 metre relay teams as well as in his individual event. His family home was off Oxbridge Lane but he had moved to London, teaching I believe. He went on to Richard Hind from Trinity if my memory serves me rightly.
The two Holy Trinity photos I have placed on the site were kindly loaned to me by Mavis Holligon whose late husband Alf saved from his school days many years ago.I think our friend Ken Sawyer is among the group of young boys and both Mavis and I hope it stirs some old memories.Mrs Holligon also loaned me some old West End and Head Wrightson photos which I hope to place on the site later in the year with the help of the site organizers.
Where do you get these wonderful photos from Ken Rhodes? I”ve moved back a row on this one! All these names bring back great memories. Mr “Daddy” Burdon was an excellent teacher and a gentleman. He passed on high expectations and standards. His reading of “Christmas Carol” was wonderful and vivid.
