  1. Alan, am I right in thinking that in the early 1950s where this photograph was taken from (i.e. the beginning of the Wynd) there was, on the left, a small row of very old bungalows? (I seem to recall a very old lady called Mary Turnbull moving from a bungalow there up to Willey Flatts opposite Longleys.) Also, there was on the right hand side a small terrace of houses, which I recall because my mother was cleaner to the ladies in one of those small, dark houses. I seem to think there was a garage or a workshop behind these houses, something mucky at the time that we were told to keep away from!!

  2. Mrs Fawcett lived at no 2 High Street for many years. The church hall to the right used to be rented out for functions. I joined the army cadets who used the hall once a week and used to practice marching up the school drive.
