  1. The pound for stray dogs is still there, fortunately now the unclaimed/unwanted dogs are no longer put down but sent to sadberge dog trust now.

  2. I CAN REMEMBER GOING TO THE CLUB AT STOCKTON BATHS I CAN REMEMBER GOING TO THE BACK OF THE POLICE STATION AND THERE USED TO BE A POUND THERE FOR STRAY DOGS UNFORTUNATELY IF THEY DIDN”T FIND A HOME THEY USED TO BE PUT DOWN WHICH WAS VERY SAD

  3. This photo brings back memories, not because of the swimming club but Rosalind and Pat were in the same class at Richard Hind with me. Also I later found out Rosalind was the niece of Dudley West who had Hartburn Garage and who played snooker with my dad every Sunday night with two other friends for years. Patricia also worked with me at Isaac Robson”s on Bridge Road for about a year. The famous Mitchell Library has a site with old photos of Glasgow but no place for comments so it is not half as interesting as this site. Keep up the good work team.

  4. Lots of memories coming back at the mention of the Monday night swimming club!  The picture was in the Evening Gazette 1957 (ish) and shows from l-r myself, Rosalind West, Patricia Edwards and Pauline West.  I”m afraid I don”t remember these girls, but I do remember the photo being taken.  Sue Calvert and I used to attend the club and the esential part of the evening was the bag of chips afterwards, and if we got home quick enough we were in time to watch, now was it Wagon Train or Rawhide?  I also remember sitting on my Uncle shoulders who was 6ft tall, and he then dived off the top board and let me go just as we got to the water!  Wow, happy days!
