  1. In 1971, we lived across the road from the Evans at 101 Norton Avenue – which is just out of shot to the left of this photograph. At that time, the Johnson family lived at 99 (partially visible here) the Deardens at 97 and the Durhams at 95.

  2. Mrs Hartley lived at No 34 Trent Street Norton and she used to make great bread buns I remember popping to the Brown Jug for her occasionally. Were you related to the late Geoffrey Castellow? I seem to remember he passed away at an early age in North Ormesby Hospital

  3. Number 102 Norton Avenue next to the bus stop was my family”s home. In the winter of 71, the pipes froze rock hard with frost inside and out.

  4. My grandmother lived in Somerset Road in the latter part of her life. My parents had bought her old house in Trent Street & before the new bathroom was fitted, into what had been to that time a third bedroom, we visited twice a week so I could have a piping hot bath. I would emerge looking like a peeled prawn, it was heaven. I particularly remember, when somewhat older, finding out just how well constructed those maisonettes were. Two ways of heating the hot water, conduited electrics, & more electric sockets than most private houses could boast.
