  1. What a wonderful photo. My mum is Denise Bullock, second left on bottom row all in tartan. She was born in Keith, Aberdeenshire.
She is enjoying retirement now from nursing at North Tees Hospital.

    • A number of the boys in this photo went into engineering, Malcolm Heath at I.C.I. Billingham, Len Nicholson, Roy Buchanan, David Clarke & Phil Veitch at Head Wrightsons, also Keith Barker, Brian Lonsdale & the late Tony Brown. Is there a Newham Grange School re-union this year?.

  2. R&D I remember it well. I was there before you Dave. When the labs were made in the R&D it was me that built the benches, put the red formica on and where teak was necessary the bench parts were made with this, acid resistant. A lot of the instruments had to have special boxes for them and were lined out with green baize which I also made. Before the R&D it was the Aluminium shop. 02/03/2012 14:46:41

  3. Just came across this photograph and feel sure Roy Buchanan worked with myself and a great gang of apprentices in the R & D department of Head Wrightson back in the 50’s. I think he left to join the police force somewhere in the South of the country. Great memories of leading our older colleagues a merry dance at times. Also remember Christine Houghton who was the girlfriend of one of my mates for a while. It still seems like yesterday allthough it is 50+ years ago. Where does the time go??02/03/2012 11:51:42

  4. I thought I reconized the name, hope you are keeping well Bill. I was down at Newtown back in October last year, things have changed. Remember Woodcocks the grocer shop? They used to roast coffee beans on a monday, every time I smell coffee brewing I think of those days.

  5. I knew Terry and Sandra Crisp back in the 50s & 60s, they lived in Craggs Street. The last time I saw Terry was at a party in (I think) Dorset Road, Norton about 1970 give or take a few years. I haven’t seen Sandra since I was in short pants.

  6. Yes, it is Jock Grant in the photo, you don’t happen to be Sandra Crisp’s younger brother do you,she lived in the Bedford Street area of Newtown and had the Tiny Tots shop in Norton village, she married Phil Welsh a pattern maker at Head Wrightsons.

  7. For those of you like Ray, looking to locate various old friends, try 192 (just google it) I have found quite a few people that way, including my long lost cousins, keep your search wide then narrow it down. Hope it helps you.

  8. I would like to use this forum to try to get in touch with Arthur Jones, (4th from the left on the back row of this photograph)- another friend from school, who is believed to be living in the Blackburn area? We think he has a brother or sister still living in Hawthorn Road in Stockton but we are not sure.

2012 will be the 55th anniversary of us all leaving Newham Grange Secondary School to start work so we are hoping to make the reunion that year a good one. You can get my details from the Picture Stockton Team.

  9. My ambition is to help arrange a reunion of any ex-pupils in Form 4A 1957 at a venue in Teesside. I would love to hear from anyone in this photo and I would be happy for anyone to call me or contact me by e-mail. The Picture Stockton Team have permission to provide my details to anyone who requests them.

  10. It is wonderful to find this photo. I am Roy Buchanan in the back row. I am now nearly 67 having left Newham Grange School in 1957 at the age of 15. I am still in full employment working for the London Borough of Sutton and living not far away in Epsom, Surrey. I would be delighted to hear from anyone in this photograph. I remember all of you with such fond memories. Please get in touch.

  11. I think you”ll find that Curly was the first SGS player to represent Stockton Boys.I think it was a game at South Bank”s ground in the late fifties.

  12. Keith I apologize for getting your sister”s christian name wrong, but one wrong out of twenty nine people after fifty odd years is not bad.Its a distant memory since we all played football on Ragworth School field & Newham Grange Park.

  13. Keith Webster a blast from the past, Keith was one of the outstanding Grammar School Sportsmen who was denied Selection in the Stockton Boys School Teams we have discussed recently. Keith went on to play for Newcastle United and kept wicket for Durham County. Keith was my next door neighbour in Hawthorne Road Primrose Hill and now resides in Melbourne.
