  1. I wonder why Jet Harris and Tony Meehan of the Shadows wasn’t included on the Stellar Star photo outside the Globe Theatre. He was one of the main musicians that created the Shadows sound.

  2. I believe it was after the shadows appeared in this panto that they wrote the piece of music Stars Fell On Stockton

  3. OK, so am I showing my age now – but I also attended this particular show to see The Shadows and Frank Ifield. “Lucky Devil” was Frank”s current song at the time. Frank is now back in his native Australia but I have mailed him (name dropper) to tell him about this website, the photos and comments. It would be nice to see a Mr F.Ifield joining in the postings from down under!

    • Stan, Incredibly I too attended this Pantomime, my Dad having won the tickets in an office draw. At age 14, it was not quite the right age to be going anywhere ‘with your parents’, so I can only presume that I acted a bit bored n’ sullen like Harry Enfield’s ‘Kevin the Teenager’ character that night… whilst secretly enjoying the whole show!

  4. Head Wrightsons welfare committee used to book two afternoon shows every year at the Globe Panto for the employees children. This yearly event i can remember going to see back in the days of the war with the old favourite Frank E Franks and also going to see the show shown above with other helpers from Heads welfare committee. This show was one of the most popular because of the Shadows and Frank Highfield. Its time some people with lots of money got this lovely theatre back to its former glory.
