16 years old and just left Furness Comprehensive School in 1980. My first job was to help clean the walls in the vicarage (white door). The girls I worked with locked me in the cellar (bless them) and I sat and cried on the stone stairs in the pitch black. We used to go out in teams finding jobs to do for the local elderly; shopping or cleaning or just sitting and listening to old stories. Just behind the photographer, to his (her) right, there was a building where dance lessons were held approx. 1968. Mum took me there aged 4. The lady running the classes told her to take me back when I wanted to learn how to dance. It was fun sliding along a polished floor in my socks.
