  1. As a new ‘modern’ wrap-around fascia board, is installed on the Vic-wardian premises of mens outfitters ‘Hepworth’s’, the facade of a 18thC. georgian town-house, (complete with original window-sashes) can still be seen above ‘Brighter Homes’.

  2. Jack Marriott should have some recognition in the offices of Stockton council, he recorded the Stockton our families grew up in.

  3. Joe was the only person permitted to sell Gazettes from the Globe up to the Shambles, North side, often with lads spotted along the strip. Joe got a penny a copy, the lads would get a halfpenny a copy from him. I suppose this is what was meant by a franchise. Spent many hours playing 3 card brag with Joe in the old Gazette office waiting for the night racing results to be printed.

  4. There has been a lot of discussion of where Joe Turley did his “Paper (gazette) selling. Well this is the exact spot. On the pavement to the left of the seat and right between the end of the “0” bus stop to Norton.
