If anybody knows how to contact any former Tempest Band members I would be grateful for a contact address. If you email the Picture Stockton team at pictures@stockton.gov.uk they will be able to pass any information on to me.
I’m 80 years old now and am clearing out the debris of my years before it’s too late. I have terminal COPD so my days are limited.
While clearing out I’ve found a bundle of tickets for a Tempest “Gig”. A Grange field Grammar school term end dance from the 1960’s which I and others organised. If I have some contact details I can pass them on for their memorabilia stash.
I played in the Tempests Group in 1965 Alec Geddes and I were good friends. I live in Canada now ( 40 years) I would love to hear fron Alex or anyone who played in the Tempests group. Dave Ritchie, Barry Grimwood, Ivan Thompson. I still have fond memories of Kirk Levington Jazz Club and playing along side Long John Baldry. I have no pictures — Does anyone out there have any ??
The photo of the Tempests pop group is the 1961 line-up is from L to R is Ivan Thompson,Alec Geddes,Bob Simpson,Reg Davidson and Laurence Atkinson.Reg Davidson was a former pupil of St.Bedes School.
i would just like to add that the man at the front bottom left is my dad Alex Geddes who i am very proud of. He still lives in Stockton and i know that anyone who knows him from the past he would love to hear from so please get in touch.
On the right is Laurence Atkinson, now lives near Sheffield. Hopefully he”ll make it to a Norton St Mary”s Youth Club & dance reunion we”re organising in October-07. But we”re trying to contact Les Bennett (Stockton Grammar, left around 1965?) who played bass at the time. Maybe lives in Billingham? Anyone got his details?
Remember the Grangefield School Disco Dances in the mid 60s and a band called The Rocking DJays? Grangefield classmate of mine Rob Hull, who left the school in 1968, played bass with this band. The last time I talked to Rob was a chance meeting on the Holloway Road in London in 1973 when he was bassist with Chicken Shack. At the time I was part time roadie with The Edgar Broughton Band and other bands. Heady days. I wonder if Rob is still in the music business.
Another pop group with links to Grangefield Grammar School. The guitarist on the right is called Lawrence ? Somebody will know the rest. This group is The Tempests and were very popular in Stockton and area in circa 1961. Grangefield Grammar produced Charlie Gillett who went on to discover and help quite a few pop luminaries. Bruce Thomas also ex-Grangefield (Elvis Costello & The Attractions) and others.
